Pachypodium on steroids! (Triplantanol)

Pachypodium lameri is one plant that responds very well to feeding with triplantanol if conditions are right. Everyone thinks the growth of leaves looks as though the plant is on steroids. I assure people that triplantanol does not contain steroids, however it does contain plant growth regulators. You can see the effect in our photograph. Leaves are normally around 20mm x 200mm however this monster is 77mm x 440mm on its largest leaves. It is also very noticeable how much thicker the leaves are than normal. There is some curving of the leaves which is due to cell expansion down the midrib. The plant is growing in a 25cms pot in a UK conservatory. 7 years old, 100 cms high, with a crown spread of leaves of 95cms. Fed with triplantanol at 6 week intervals.

Key Link In How Plants Adapt To Climate Discovered
How many mouths does a plant need in order to survive? The answer changes depending on climate and some of the decisions are made long before a new leaf sprouts. Stanford researchers have found that the formation of microscopic pores called stomata is controlled by a specific signaling pathway that blocks activity of a single protein required for stomata development. Stomata are found on almost every terrestrial plant on Earth.
